After the events of 2020, it feels as though the people of Minnesota and their government are at a crossroads. Redesigning its problematic flag is one minor but meaningful step to show that the state is listening to its people.

Minnesota's current flag looks like many other state flags. It has too much text that reads too small and has the state seal (which has its issues) that is too busy and hard to see on a smaller scale. My Due North flag fixes many of the current flag's mistakes and has more symbolism.

Symbolism: The North Star is a symbol of hope and guidance. It is a symbol that represents the strong people of Minnesota.

The North Star is anchored on the left side of the flag to symbolize Minnesota's history. The blue space to the star's right signifies the future and how even though we can't change the past, we can together build something better.

Color: Two different blues divide the flag to represent the Dakota Sioux translation of Minnesota, "Sky tinted water." In Vexillology, blues also represent justice, peace, and the people.

The white of the North star represents peace, honesty, and harmony. The specific colors for the flag also represent our winters that many Minnesotans have grown to love (or hate).
